TCHAIKOVSKY SYMPHONY NO. 4
A Jacobs Masterworks Concert

Jahja Ling, conductor
Benjamin Beilman, violin

SHOSTAKOVICH: Festive Overture
SAINT-SAËNS: Violin Concerto No. 3 in B minor, Op. 61
TCHAIKOVSKY: Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36

This program features Dmitri Shostakovich's nearly perfect concert opener for the ages, his Festive Overture. Next is the tautly constructed Third Violin Concert from Camille Saint-Saƫns, which will provide guest violinist Benjamin Beilman (a rising young American with stellar reviews both sides of the Atlantic) ample opportunity to display its gorgeous melodies and virtuosic fireworks. Finally, Music Director Jahja Ling closes the concert with Piotr Tchaikovsky's always-rousing Symphony No. 4.

Join us for Nuvi Mehta's highly informative "What's The Score?" pre-concert talk, beginning 45 minutes before downbeat. This presentation is free with your ticket, and takes place inside the concert hall.
