Few conductors world-wide have had as esteemed a career as Charles Dutoit. From his landmark 25-year tenure as Artistic Director of the Montréal Symphony to his continuing 30+ year artistic relationship with the Philadelphia Orchestra and his Artistic Directorship of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Maestro Dutoit is one of today's most in-demand classical artists.

In his first-ever appearance leading the San Diego Symphony, Maestro Dutoit brings a dazzling program of propulsive, dance-like energy. After leading off with Ludwig van Beethoven's blistering and brief Prometheus Overture, he welcomes rising young violinist Simone Porter for Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's youthfully lyrical Violin Concerto No. 3. At the top of the second half will be Igor Stravinsky's boisterous music for his tragi-comical puppet ballet, Petrushka, and then the program concludes with one of Maestro Dutoit's signature selections, Maurice Ravel's gorgeous yet disturbing La valse.
